Kristine Moran’s recent painting practice involves extracting marks and gestures from past work and assigning them specific meaning. The symbolic forms are then placed within the context of a pictorial archive with the intent of arriving at concrete visual vocabulary. New marks and symbols are arrived at through the process of automatic drawing and also added to the pictorial archive. When placed together, images form full sentences creating a narrative dialogue from painting to painting.
